ILOILO – Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas is alarmed over reports that some police personnel alert drug pushers on impending anti-illegal drug operations.
Salinas was reacting specifically on the case of the Pototan municipal police station which netted no catch in their latest drug-bust operations because their subjects had left when the authorities struck.
Its chief of police, Senior Insp. Aaron Palomo, said one reason for their failure was probably because his men had a “loose talk” about their operation or worse, there might have been tipsters among his personnel.
Salinas said if indeed that was the assessment of Palomo, it can be considered alarming and the chief of police should come up with countermeasures observant of operational security.
“If this particular assessment is prevalent in IPPO, magkaproblema gid kita,” Salinas said.
However, in the case of Pototan, Salinas is confident that Palomo could handle the situation.
He admitted that last year, he ordered the relief of a Pototan police officer for the same reason.
Since it happened again this time, Salinas vowed to look into this problem.
Meanwhile, he would come up with assessment of his personnel.
He admitted that such serious offense undermines the easy attainment of the particular mission of a police unit and all the efforts infused for the operations will turn out negative./PN
