BACOLOD City – The Coast Guard District in Western Visayas (CGDWV) has a new commander.

Captain Edgar Ybañez replaced outgoing Commodore Hostillo Arturo Cornelio who was reassigned to the National Capital Region-Central Luzon.

Ybañez was previously the district commander of CGD in North Eastern Luzon.

In his speech during Monday’s turnover ceremony, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) commandant, Vice Admiral Leopoldo Laroya, lauded the commanders for their outstanding performances.

He also urged them to continue boosting projects, ensure proper law enforcement, as well as support PCG auxiliary volunteers.

The commanders must serve the people with humility, dignity and compassion, according to Laroya./PN
