BACOLOD City – A watchman of a hacienda was arrested in Barangay 4, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Oct. 5.
He was the first to have violated the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban which is in effect until tomorrow (Oct. 8), the last day of filing of the certificates of candidacy (COC), police said.
Thirty-year-old Jesus Laresma, a resident of the city’s Barangay Punao, was initially caught driving a motorcycle without a helmet around 9:15 p.m.
He also failed to carry his motorcycle registration, police said.
When frisked, police recovered a .38-caliber revolver with two live ammunitions.
The firearm has no license and permit to carry firearm outside residence (PTCFOR).
The suspect was detained at the police station, facing charges.
During the gun ban, all PTCFORs are suspended.
Only uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and other government forces are allowed to carry firearms.
Gun holders and government forces in civilian clothes would be arrested, too, if they are caught carrying guns./PN
