
BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – A rockslide struck Barangay Dagsaan on the night of Oct. 4, destroying some houses.
The continuous rains brought by Tropical Depression “Lannie” caused a slight movement of soil down mountain slopes in Sitio Buro, Barangay Dagsaan.
The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) Team immediately responded and went to the affected area.
Punong Barangay William Islao of Dagsaan informed the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of the incident.
A house made of light materials owned by Juvylee Talaron was totally damaged.
Another house owned by Sandy Jimenez was partially damaged; it was also made of light materials.
The following morning, PDRRMO personnel checked the site and assessed the damage.
No casualties were recorded from the hazard.
The BDRRM and Municipal Disaster Risk and Management (MDRRM) officers are closely monitoring the area were the rockslide occurred.
Residents around the affected area were advised to evacuate and relocate.
In addition, preparatory measures were observed by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC). They alerted all M/BDRRMCs and the response teams such as the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy and the Guimaras Police Provincial Office.
The PDRRMC also prepositioned the following equipment: two dump trucks, one flood boat and three chainsaws./PN
