918,450 doses of donated Pfizer vaccines from US arrive in PH

MANILA — A total of 918,450 doses of the US-made Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines arrived in the Philippines on Sunday.

The aircraft carrying the vaccines landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at around 4:15 p.m.

The doses were donated by the United States and is the first batch of the 1.8 million doses to be delivered through COVAX facility this week. The other second batch is set to arrive on Monday.

In total, around 21 million doses have already been donated by the US government to the Philippines through COVAX.

Meanwhile, as of Oct. 7, a total of 47,778,751 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered since the vaccination drive started last March 1.

Of this, 25,376,646 people were inoculated with the first dose, while 22,402,105 already completed the vaccine with the second dose.  (©Philippine Daily Inquirer 2021)
