BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental is expediting the release of vaccination cards with quick response (QR) codes for individuals fully inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, local government units (LGUs) must have a complete list of their fully vaccinated residents, signed by the municipal or city health officer and the mayor.
The list will then be forwarded to the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
PHO will upload the fully vaccinated person’s information to the province’s Management Information System (MIS). LGUs can access the MIS.
Those who want to claim their vaccination cards must coordinate with their LGUs, said Diaz.
The provincial government is also studying the possibility of vaccinated individuals obtaining their cards via email instead.
The individual with a vaccination card with QR code can travel outside the province and return home without undergoing reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction testing or quarantine.
About 15 percent of the province’s target population, or 300,000 individuals, have been vaccinated against the viral disease./PN
