BACOLOD City – Torrential rains brought about by the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone triggered a landslide in Dukog-dukog area along the eco-translink highway in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental late Friday night.

Based on the information released by the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO), large boulders temporarily blocked the highway linking San Carlos and Don Salvador Benedicto town.

Personnel of the DRRMO, Department of Public Works and Highways and the city’s engineering office deployed heavy equipment to the site to remove the debris.

Stranded bus passengers bound for the city were shuttled by vehicles sent by DRRMO.

No casualty was recorded.

The highway was reopened on Saturday morning, although authorities advised motorists to avoid the area, especially during nighttime or inclement weather./PN
