KALIBO, Aklan – Policemen arrested a welder in Barangay Camanci Sur, Numancia, Aklan following a house raid on Oct. 14.
Firearms and ammunition were recovered but Joel Bernales failed to present legal documents for these, said Lieutenant Renee Armenio, Numancia police chief.
The raid on Bernales’ house was carried out at around 7 a.m. by operatives of the Numancia municipal police station, Provincial Intelligence Branch and Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
“Ang suspek hindi naman nag-resist sa operation. Na-recover ang mga baril at bala sa ilalim ng kanyang kama,” said Armenio.
The items recovered were the following:
* .38,
* Colt .45
* five cartridges of .38 special bullets
* one magazine of .45 without cartridges
* one magazine of .9mm
* 14 cartridges of .9mm
* four cartridges of .45
“Hindi sa akin ang mga baril, naiprenda sa akin mahigit mga apat na taon, mga P1,500 para sa pag-gastos sa Maynila ng aking kaibigan,” Bernales said.
He was brought to the Numancia police station.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) would be filed against Bernales./PN
