BACOLOD City – Encouraged by the report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) that it was leading in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination, the La Carlota City government aims to vaccinated 50 percent of its target population by the end of this month.

According to Mayor Rex Jalando-on, the goal translates to a total of 23,563 vaccinated residents by Oct. 31.

The city has the total target population of 47,125.
The report was a significant “morale booster” to the city government and the COVID-19 vaccination team after suffering many setbacks, low turnouts and attacks from “anti-vaxxers” in the past.

Jalando-on was grateful for the cooperation of residents and the efforts of the vaccination team.

The mayor and other private physicians, including Medical Board topnotcher Dr. Inez Benedicto, were at vaccination sites over the weekend.

They temporarily substituted fellow doctors who were given a day-off before the vaccination drive went on full gear this week./PN
