KALIBO, Aklan – Fully vaccinated returning Aklanons are no longer required to submit negative saliva or swab test results.
Instead, they only have to present their electronic vaccination certificates obtained through www.vaxcert.doh.gov.ph or vaccination cards issued by the local government units (LGUs) where they were vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
They have to submit also travel coordination permit from the LGUs of their destination.
Arriving Aklanons are assured of quarantine-free travel as long as they are vaccinated.
“Hindi na mahihirapan ang ating mga residente at mga kababayan galing sa ibang bansa na uuwi sa Aklan. They just have to access the VaxCertPH website,” said Gov. Florencio Miraflores.
Fully vaccinated travellers from Western Visayas should also submit their vaccination certificate sans negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test to enter Boracay Island.
However, tourists from outside Western Visayas are still required to submit negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test within 72 hours prior to departure when travelling to Aklan, plus the digital health declaration form for quick response (QR) codes.
Miraflores said they will remove the requirement for negative RT-PCR test for incoming visitors once the residents are vaccinated.
He further clarified that residents in Boracay Island should first get their jabs before they will allow tourists with vaccination certificates as pre-entry requirement.
The latest count showed at least 80 percent of tourism workers in Boracay Island are fully vaccinated.
About 35,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines from Department of Health will be inoculated to residents of Boracay Island starting Oct. 23.
Three vaccination sites in Balabag and Manocmanoc will administer the Pfizer vaccines to the adult population.
The vaccination will contribute to the safe opening of Boracay Island to tourists.
“Ang Boracay Island malaki ang kontribusyon sa ekonomiya at turismo ng buong Aklan. Kaparte sa ating istratehiya na buksan ang isla upang makabangon tayo sa pandemya,” said Miraflores. (PNA)
