ILOILO City – Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym captured 17 medals in the 2021 SMART/MVP Sports Foundation National Age Group Online Taekwondo Championships held recently.
The squad of head coach Denmark Pinggol was dominant in the one-day virtual taekwondo tournament with eight gold, six silver and three bronze medals.
The gold medal winners were Phil Andrew Margarico, Amber Gale Abellar, Princess Ivan Barcemo, Iannah Gabriella Rosales, Nathan Lee Dedal, Arvin Kirk Derayunan, Pearl Danielle Rosales, and Alexis Eunice Araneta.
Capturing silver medals were Angela Joy Marie Bermejo, Jeremiah Miguel Ong, Jannah Ysabel Velez, Lindsy Lorraine Degayo, Shires Pastolero, and Red Dyron Lusaya.
Settling for bronze medal finishes were Merial An Detablan, Nieka Thalia Guevarra and James Xander Calubo.
Team Phikoma Cadiz of Dexter Ramas Chavez also made their presence felt in the virtual taekwondo competition with two gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
Ana Rose Carido and Rhiane Wyeth Llaguno were the gold medal winners for Cadiz City, Negros Occidental-based jins while Jeincis Carian and Lyr Sendico bagged silvers.
Winning the bronze medal for the Team Phikoma Cadiz crew were Jerea Eliza Peñas, Erich-Eunin Geli and Jovymar Gane.
Zarraga Taekwondo Dojang, on the other hand, finished the taekwondo event with two silver and two bronze medals.
Taking home the silver medals were Djezelree Clavel and Kevin Tayo Rumpel, while clinching the bronze were Dominique Sudayan and Prinz Khyzyl Eufan.
The one-day taekwondo event organized by Smart and Manuel V Pangilinan Sports Foundation was sanctioned by the Philippine Taekwondo Association./PN
