Drug peddlers bankrolling local candidates?

ILOILO City – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is on the lookout for drug peddlers financing local candidates in the May 2022 elections.

“We will not allow that,” said Regional Director Alex Tablate.

PDEA-6 will coordinate with the intelligence personnel of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) to “review the list of target personalities,” Tablate added.

Five drug groups are being monitored in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.

Tablate also appealed to the public to help them monitor “narco-politicians”.

Dapat mahuli natin ang mga big personalities para ma-control natin ang pagpalabas nila ng pera galing sa droga,” he added.

On the other hand, PDEA-6 together with the local police seized 25 big sachets of suspected shabu valued at P3.4 million in a buy-bust operation in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

Joint elements of PDEA-6 and the San Carlos City police station arrested 39-year-old Emil Mariano, a resident of the city’s Burgos Street, Barangay 6.

Mariano was a “high value” drug suspect.

The suspect also yielded P10,000 buy-bust money, and his motorcycle was impounded.

He was detained in the lockup cell of the San Carlos City police station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
