BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental targets to vaccinate against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) 100,000 people weekly.
The roll out of vaccines in the province is slow, according to Dr. Adriano Suba-an, director of the Department of Health (DOH) in Region 6.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said the province has the highest target population to be vaccinated at 1,825,370.
“We will bring the vaccination program to the barangay level,” Lacson assured.
Lacson said there is a need for barangay captains to step up.
“We are studying ways to give incentives to barangay officials,” Lacson said.
The governor is optimistic they could reach herd immunity by February next year.
