ILOILO – A total of 132 police officers in different police stations here donated blood in a bloodletting activity at the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) headquarters yesterday, Nov. 16.
According to Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, IPPO director, this was the second activity held this year.
On July 23, over 100 police personnel donated blood.
In 2019, the IPPO was awarded the Sandugo Award for being a consistent blood donor.
This is the highest award given to local officials supporting the voluntary blood donation program, and to offices for their active involvement to maintain an adequate safe blood supply in the country.
Gorero is encouraging others to donate blood.
“This will also help our health condition,” he said.
The activity was facilitated by the Police Community Affairs and Development Unit headed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Jojo Tabaloc in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Regional Blood Center, headed by Dr. Carlo Norlan; Rev. Pastor Myoengsu Lee, coordinator of the Korean Filipino Community; and Police Colonel Percival Zorrilla, chief of the Regional Special Training Unit 6./PN
