NEW YORK – Golden State Warriors used a huge third quarter rampage to take down Brooklyn Nets, 117-99, in the 2021-2022 NBA Season on Tuesday night (Wednesday in the Philippines) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Stephen Curry drilled nine triples to finish with 37 points, with seven rebounds and five assists. Andrew Wiggins added 19 markers. The Warriors stayed on top in the West with 12-2 slate.
Jordan Poole chipped in 17 points, while Draymond Green contributed 11 points, eight assists and six rebounds for the Warriors, which were still without Klay Thompson and James Wiseman.
Down 25-16 early in the game, the Warriors rode on back-to-back triples by Curry and inside conversions from Gary Payton Jr. and Jonathan Kuminga to trim the deficit to 32-34.
The Warriors went on with its run in the second quarter behind Wiggins and Otto Porter Jr. to surge to a 50-45 advantage. The Nets managed to tie it but hits by Wiggins gave GSW a 63-58 halftime lead.
Golden State went for the kill in the third with baskets from Curry, Poole and Wiggins for a 98-76 edge. This later grew to its largest at 107-80 on a three-point play by Damion Lee.
James Harden top-scored with 24 points, while Kevin Durant and Bruce Brown chipped in 17 and 14 markers, respectively, as Brooklyn dropped to 10-5 win-loss slate.
Meanwhile, Utah Jazz stayed at third place in the Western Conference with 9-5 win-loss slate. It defeated the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers (8-7), 120-85.
Bojan Bogdanovic converted five triples to finish with 27 points. Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson added 20 markers, while Rudy Gobert had double-double 15 points and 17 rebounds for the Jazz.
Los Angeles Clippers (9-5) got back on the winning track with a 106-92 beating of San Antonio Spurs (4-10). Paul George led the Clippers with 34 points and nine rebounds.
