ILOILO – To ensure the safety of the residents, personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Pavia town suggested that home owners in Deca Homes Subdivision in Barangay Balabag secure car stickers.
In the recent meeting with the homeowners association and the police spearheaded by Police Major Rolando Araño, it was agreed that home owners who have vehicles should be issued with a sticker as proof of residence.
For non-residents, a gate pass would be issued.
“We are happy nga agree man ang mga residents para indi na masulit ang natabo,” Araño said, referring to the brutal murder of businesswoman Claire Diergos inside her house at the subdivision.
He also suggested that the barangay should change their closed-circuit television (CCTV) with a “high definition” one.
“CCTV is very important and CCTV camera images are critical to provide effective evidential video. Ang wala salakyan dapat may ID sila nga i-issue kag ang indi residents may pass man para mabal-an kon sin–o ang nagasulod,” Araño added.
Diergos was abandoned in her car in Barangay Inangayan, Santa Barbara town on Oct. 26.
Based on a CCTV footage, Diergos’ car exited the subdivision around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 25, but it was unclear who the driver was.
The special investigation team (SIT) sent the CCTV footage to the Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Office (RACO) of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
The RACO has yet to release the enhanced footage.
All footages sent to the RACO would be certified before submitting to the court as part of the evidence.
The SIT recently released the cartographic sketches of two more “persons of interest.”
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director, Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, said the two were seen near Diergos’ vehicle hours before her cadaver was discovered.
“Bisan circumstantial, this will aid our investigation. Pero we could not say ano ang ila participation sa krimen,” Gorero said./PN
