BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – Contact sports such as basketball may now be played here, according to Mayor Eugenio “Eugene” Reyes in Executive Order No. 073 issued on Nov. 17.
But there are guidelines that must be followed to ensure public safety because the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is still very much around.
Contact sports shall be held only in the designated playing court. For this purpose, the barangay shall submit to the Office of the Mayor the designated court for identification.
Players/participants must be fully vaccinated and must be 18 years old and above. An individual becomes fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine or a dose of a single-dose vaccine.
The local government unit (LGU) shall be responsible to ensure that such players/participants are fully vaccinated by requiring the presentation of vaccination card/certificate.
Players/participants must not exhibit symptoms referable to COVID-19.
Only players from the same barangay shall be allowed to participate in the contact sport. Players from other barangays shall be denied entry in the court.
Within five days from the scheduled event, players/participants who shall developed flu-like symptoms must inform the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) concerned. This is for the purpose of post-event monitoring and contact tracing for possible exposures.
The minimum health protocols such as taking of temperature before entry in the court, observance of physical distancing and completion of health declaration form must be followed.
As of Nov. 18, Buenavista had six active COVID-19 cases left in barangays East Valencia, New Poblacion, San Isidro, San Nicolas, Supang, and Tastasan./PN
