Following the tremendous success of its delivery app, the Filipino-owned start-up Mober Logistics, Inc. is spearheading a sustainable revolution that sets the new standard in the logistics industry.
To keep up with the ever-changing business landscape, the tech-logistics firm teamed up with e-Sakay, a subsidiary of the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), to provide the country’s first batch of electric delivery vans.
The cargo vans are zero-emission commercial vehicles that combine the benefits of electric vehicles with the design and functionality of reliable goods delivery units — able to transport parcels weighing up to 3,000 kilograms.
eSakay is a Meralco company dedicated to modernizing and electrifying transport systems for private and public sector customers throughout the Philippines.
For his part, Meralco Chief Sustainability Officer and eSakay President and CEO Raymond B. Ravelo said: “It is our pleasure and privilege to have Mober as our strategic partner in our continuing drive to propagate electric vehicles in the Philippines.”
Electric vehicle adoption in the country is still in its early stages, but Mober’s investment in it also plays a key role in supporting the government’s push for modernization.
To recall, the government, through the Department of Energy, is planning to deploy at least 20,000 electric vehicles across the country in the next five years — a move seen to reduce carbon emissions and cut fuel costs by at least P8 billion.
Apart from ushering in a new standard in the business, the move also supports Mober’s long-term expansion. To reduce carbon emissions, Mober has outlined its plans to transform its current fleet to become 100 percent electric by 2030. This includes a mixed fleet of electric vans and trucks — including a bid to roll out the country’s first fleet of electric trucks with 4,500-kilogram capacity.
With a growing partner profile consisting of local giants in the service — FMCG, F&B, and retail sectors – the company is looking into tapping more businesses that are serious about reducing their carbon footprint.
With a market demand for more sustainable and eco-friendly services, Mober will continue to take bold steps towards innovation and champion a new standard in the industry and its consumers.
Founded in 2016, Mober was initially established as an on-demand delivery app, designed to help solve the logistics challenges of MSMEs. /PN
