7 more Antique towns COVID-free

ANTIQUE – The towns of Bugasong, Libertad, Pandan, Patnongon, San Jose, Tobias Fornier, and Valderrama reported having no more active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-9) as of Nov. 30.

This brought to 11 the number of Antique towns cleared of COVID-19  as of Tuesday.

Municipalities which previously reported having no more active COVID-19 cases were Belison, Culasi, San Remigio, and Sebaste.

Only six towns were left with active COVID-19 cases as of Nov. 30. These were Caluya (six), Hamtic (five), Tibiao (three), Laua-an (two), Anini-y (one), Barbaza (one), and Sibalom (one).

The province has 5,818 COVID-19 cases that recovered while its death toll from the disease was at 287.

“I would like to thank the mayors,” said Gov. Rhodora Cadiao. She gave them credit for the drop in COVID-19 cases by enforcing the health protocols.

She added: “The mayors are actively participating. Every time we have a meeting in the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force we always include the mayors para mabal-an man namon ang ila nga opinion and suggestions (on how to handle the pandemic).”

Cadiao also lauded Antiqueños for being cooperative not only in observing the health protocols but also for getting themselves vaccinated against COVID-19.

As of Nov. 21, 116,974 Antiqueños were deemed fully vaccinated while 162,564 more were waiting for their second dose to be deemed fully vaccinated as well.

The provincial government hopes to vaccinate 432,452 individuals to achieve herd immunity./PN
