Woman claims cop ‘raped’ her

ILOILO City – A 21-year-old woman accused a police officer of allegedly raping her at a lodging house in La Paz district on Tuesday night.

According to Carla (not her real name) of San Enrique, Iloilo, she just got out from work on JM Basa Street around 6 p.m. when she saw the suspect behind her.

If she were to be believed, the suspect forced her to board a taxi, and they headed to Anita lodging house where the alleged rape was done.

But the following day, according to Police Major Val Ladublan, La Paz police chief, the woman could no longer be located.

He said police officers from the La Paz police station accompanied Carla to West Visayas State University Medical Center for a medical checkup.

“When our men returned to the hospital, she was no longer there. We exerted effort to locate her, but we could not,” Ladublan said.

The woman may already have gone home to San Enrique, he added.

Meanwhile, the policeman being complained of rape was reportedly a police non-commissioned officer assigned at the Passi City police station.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office vowed to look into the woman’s complaint./PN
