AND LENI Robredo’s “pink travelling circus” was in “I Am Iloilo City” Friday last week complete with street-dancing clowns. All that were missing were fire-breathing strippers, pole dancers, one eyed-midgets, and a bearded lady.
In fact, the city was in a festive mood that day it was a good distraction for the natives of “I Am Iloilo City” from quarantine, vaccinations, face shields, social distancing and COVID-19. Literally, the people who were there seemed to have completely forgotten that we’re in the midst of a pandemic.
We should expect more of this “political circus” as the “beauticians from the other parlor” with their colors of red and green will be in “I Am Iloilo City” by the coming days. The natives will be treated to more entertainment.
By the way, the traditional colors of Christmas are green and red. Meanwhile, the traditional color of breast cancer awareness is pink. I’m so glad that most of the people that went out Friday last week, including Mayor Jerry Treñas, Sen. Franklin Drilon and Leni Robredo herself, were fully aware and support the fight against breast cancer.
I saw the arrival pictures of Leni Robredo in social and mainstream media. While all the usual suspects were in their “best pink outfits”, Iloilo governor Arthur Defensor Jr. was in his usual blue ensemble. Not only did he stand out from a pink background but he seems to be making a statement obviously not just on fashion. Well, after all he did rebuff Leni Robredo re: NTF-ELCAC.
And speaking of Leni Robredo, just recently there were pictures of her all over social media in the fish section of a public market ostensibly selecting or classifying the fish in the stalls. What in the world is that woman doing? Rubbing elbows and smelling the fish is not in the job description of a president.
Anything for a decent photo-op, I suppose, after that TikTok fiasco.
So, she was in “I Am Iloilo City”. I’m curious as to which public market did she go to for her obvious fish section photo-op. Was it the La Paz Market? Perhaps Iloilo Central Market or the very popular “Super”?
I really have no way of confirming if Leni Robredo did indeed have her “fish section” photo-op while in Iloilo as pictures of this have yet to surface.
Who knows, while in Iloilo Leni might have changed style and instead did her photo-op in the vegetable section, this time with the talong and alugbate in one of the public markets here?
Instead we got this, for a moment I thought, at least she can really ride a bike. But upon a closer look she was just posing on the bike, not pedalling it. Ahay…
Meanwhile we segue to other equally juicy stuff:
The national government’s target of 15 million Filipinos vaccinated scheduled on Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 (National Vaccination Days) have been scaled down to nine million because there’s a shortage of syringes. It seems that because of Senator Gordon’s tantrums in aid of reelection, major medical product suppliers have been shying away. Thank you, Senator Gordon, for being instrumental in ushering in another wave of COVID-19 and other variants.
The only people “red-tagging” are the people themselves who complain that they are being “red-tagged” just as the only people saying Marcos is a hero are also the ones saying that he’s not.
This is late in the day yet our political scenario, particularly the presidentiables, are still not coming crystal clear although alliances have been forged. We can expect at least one more major upheaval that will definitely spell out who our next President and Vice President will be.
The funny thing is the usual suspects have all pointed at President Duterte as the playmaker calling the shots which reminds me during the 2019 ASEAN Summit in Thailand – all ASEAN leaders who attended were given symbolic jerseys by FIFA.
President Duterte was given the No. 10 jersey and in the football world, jersey No.10 is the playmaker, the team leader and the orchestrator i.e. Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi and Pele.
I hope you get my drift; anyway if you’re into jazz you can see the parallel between that music genre and President Duterte; irreverent, improvisation, interloping riffs all seemingly unrelated yet it all comes back together in the end…so I just sit back and enjoy the show./PN
