WHO is Velora? It’s not Delora, my sister, haha! It’s a clothing brand!
For a bit of history, Velora Clothing, is a Cebu-based brand started by Christiane Lyn, Maria Fe, and Claudette Joy. Having developed the brand from its conceptualization up to its realization, the women of Velora went through the adversities of being novice entrepreneurs.
With their time, effort, and dedication, they have grown the brand. Thus, Velora is encouraging every Filipina woman to stand strong with their heels on and trudge their way to make their own dreams a reality.
Recently, they launched “I AM VELORA,” the newest collection of Velora Clothing. These are white t-shirts in pure cotton imprinted with different statements as declarations of courage from authentic women of today with their stories and experiences.
That is why Velora embraces this classic trend in fashion, establishing a more valuable perspective. It is expanding its line with – not just a T-shirt you wear for your OOTD, but a shirt that resonates with a story of courage, strength, hope, inspiration, and empowerment – which is what Velora is all about.
The campaign features three different personas represented by authentic women. These women possess different profiles, statuses, and stories of struggles exhibiting courage through their respective journeys corresponding to a specific situation; I AM A SURVIVOR, I AM A CONQUEROR, and I AM A WARRIOR.
Each statement also defines the meaning of VELORA (means strong/healthy), making it the perfect representation of the brand.
What’s so special about “Project: I am Velora”?
“Project: I am Velora” is more than just selling statement shirts. It is also about giving back to the community. With that, Velora partnered with ICanServe Foundation Inc. – Cebu link.
ICanServe is an advocacy group for early breast cancer detection through regular breast self-examination, clinical breast examination, and mammography. It provides hope, help, and information to women and men diagnosed with breast cancer.
For this campaign, 50% of the profit of the limited-edition statement shirts will go to ICanServe Foundation Inc. to help support patients diagnosed with breast cancer.

Inter-Agency Maritime Exercise
On November 26, 2021, beginning at 7:00 A.M., my daughter and I had the privilege of witnessing the inter-agency maritime exercises organized by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and participated by PCG Coast Guard District Southern Mindanao, Coast Guard Station GenSan, K9 Saving Lives, Coast Guard Medical Service, GenSan Rescue 727, Philippine National Red Cross, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Philippine National Police, Maritime Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, among others.
With the simulation exercises, I am glad to know that in the event of a hijacking incident in the high seas, our armed forces led by the PCG, has a ready and tested plan to manage and overcome the situation.

Weddings and love
On Nov. 29, my daughter’s birthday, we joined the wedding celebration of Earvin Navarro and Trisha Contreras, daughter of our good friend Osh and husband Josh Contreras. It was joined by closest family and friends, and we feel honored to have been invited.
To the newly wed Earvin and Trisha, starting right is always a blessing. May God bless your journey together. Take it one step at a time and learn each other’s love language, for good measure.
At the wedding, we were seated at Table 1 shared by Dominic and Grecel Miranda-Salazar and another couple. Dominic is presently the president of the SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc. whose induction I had the privilege of hosting.
I had a very pleasant conversation with the couple, mostly about politics, haha! It was engaging, honest, and genuinely real talk. Thank you for the enjoyable discussion.

It’s finally December! Imagine how time flies so fast. It seems only 2020 when COVID-19 first entered the Philippine archipelago, and now, we are about to end the second year of our national fight against the pandemic.
Many have lost loved ones and we see their grief and heartbreak either personally or via social media. I am one with those whose grief is really devastating. I pray that Psalm 147:3 will bring us comfort. It says:
“He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds.” Indeed, God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. We pray that we shall overcome through God’s grace.
