ILOILO City – Facemasks are also being used to conceal illegal drugs, the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) discovered.
This is the newest modus operandi of drug traffickers, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, RDEU chief.
“Kun mag-frisking, wala kami may ma-recover nga drugs sa ila bulsa kay ginatago nila sa facemasks,” he added.
On Sunday, 42-year-old Fernando Repal of Barangay Poblacion, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo was arrested in a buy-bust operation. He kept a sachet of suspected shabu in the lower fold of his facemask.
Last month, the police encountered a similar experience, according to Darroca.
“Naga-innovate ang mga drug pushers,” he said. “Ginahimo nila ang tanan para matago nila ang items kay affected na gid sila sang drug operations. Indi man kami mag–untat operate sa ila.”/PN
