GUIMARAS – The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 registration in Guimaras exceeded the annual registration target by 7.09 with total registrants of 89,155 or 107.09 percent as of November 2021.
“The PhilSys Guimaras is proud to announce that the 83,256 target registrants for the period of June 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2021 was finally completed a month before its deadline despite a month of delayed implementation,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida Losare.
“Likewise, the Philsys Guimaras Team is expecting to overshoot targets by more than 15 percent by the end of December,” Losare added.
The highest number of registrants was from the Buenavista Registration Center with 23,060 or 25.87 percent of the provincial total, followed by the Nueva Valencia Registration Center with 21,278 registrants or 23.87 percent; Fixed Registration Center (FRC) with 14,576 or 16.5 percent; and Jordan Registration Center with 10,836 or 12.15 percent.
“The lowest was seen in San Lorenzo Registration Center with 9,204 or 10.32 percent, next to the Sibunag Registration Center with 10,201 or 11.44 percent of step 2 registrants,” Losare said.
Losare also expounded that the total number of Step 2 registrants in the province included those who have undergone the Assisted Step 1 Registration, walk-in registrants, and online step 1 registrants.
“PhilSys Guimaras also started registering children ages 5 to 14 for step 2 registration on Nov. 15, 202,” Losare said.
Children applicants must bring original PSA Live Birth or Barangay Certification with a front-facing photograph, full name, thumb mark or signature, birthdate, and address as requirements for the Philsys Step 2 registration.
“Adhering to the health and safety protocols such as the wearing of face mask and social distancing was also required for children applicants,” Losare said.
Losare also elaborated that Jordan Registration Center permanently ceased its operations and transferred to Nueva Valencia Registration Center to help the team compensate for the delay due to the EO imposed in the Municipality of Nueva Valencia last September 2021.
“Despite the delay in the roll-out of Step 2 Registration in the province, the PhilSys Team in Guimaras managed to exceed the provincial target and are looking forward to registering all Guimarasnons by December 2021,” Losare said./PN
