MANILA – San Miguel Beermen survived a fourth quarter uprising by the Terrafirma Dyip to score a 100-88 victory in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup last night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Comfortably ahead at 85-62 with over eight minutes in the game, the Beermen was stunned by the Dyip. The lead was trimmed down to 88-94 after a triple by Juan Miguel Tiongson.

Terrence Romeo steadied the ship for the Beermen. He converted a step back jumper to make it 96-88 followed by a layup by Jaymar Perez. The lead was extended to 100-88 with under a minute left.

Romeo finished the game with 23 points, including four outside hits, while reinforcement Brandon Brown added 23 markers, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Perez chipped in 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Vic Manuel and June Mar Fajardo contributed 14 and 10, respectively. With the win, San Miguel Beer improved to 3-2 slate.

Tiongson ended the match with 21 points, with five three-point conversions, while import Antonio Hester added 19 markers as the Dyip suffered its third consecutive defeat to drop to 1-4.

On Christmas Day, Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots dominated defending champions Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings from start to finish for a 117-94 triumph.

Reinforcement Mike Harris tallied double-double 29 points and 15 rebounds, while Paul Lee added 20 points, including four three-point conversions. The Hotshots remained undefeated in three games.

Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters (3-2), on the other hand, handed NLEX Road Warriors (4-1) its first defeat despite playing almost the entire game without injured import Paul Harris.

Matthew Wright led the Fuel Masters with 23 points and nine rebounds. Bacolodnon Justin Chua chipped in 19 markers as the Fuel Masters snapped their two-game losing skid.
