BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental has allocated a supplemental budget of P50 million for the rehabilitation of houses destroyed by super typhoon “Odette”.

Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said mayors from the affected areas asked the provincial government for help.

Just recently, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the resolution of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) declaring the province under a state of calamity.

Diaz said the budget will be distributed to towns and cities directly impacted by the super typhoon.

“It will not be in the form of cash assistance to the victims. The local government will instead purchase materials like galvanized iron sheets, woods and nails,” Diaz explained.

However, Diaz pointed out the amount will not be enough to cover all the needs of those whose houses were damaged./PN
