BACOLOD City – The Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in the town of Murcia in Negros Occidental has been temporarily closed again, this time due to damage caused by super typhoon “Odette”.
Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the reason for the closure were several large trees downed by “Odette”.
The provincial government has already started clearing operations in the area, although Lacson noted that it could take a while before the resort will reopen to visitors.
They are targeting to reopen the resort by the end of this week, although it would still depend on how soon they could complete the clearing of downed trees as well as the cleanup of the premises from debris left behind by the typhoon.
The Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary was reopened to the public just this Dec. 1 after more than a year of closure due to the coronavirus disease pandemic.
Tourists who want to visit the resort are required to pre-register at Mambukal Resort’s main office at the Provincial Capitol Building./PN
