CAPIZ – The first days of 2022 in Capiz were eventful.
On the morning of Jan. 1, four persons were injured. Their motorcycles crashed into one another in Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City.
The injured were Johnny Duran Jr., 26, and wife Jelyn, 27, of Barangay X, Roxas City; and Jan Matthew Bañares, 25, and Carmela Joy Luching, 26, of Barangay Bolo, also in Roxas City.
The Capiz Emergency Response Team (CERT) brought the victims to the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) for treatment.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old resident of Barangay Dacuton, Dumarao, Capiz got hit by a stray bullet.
Cloe Develos was riding a motorcycle being driven by Mark Lawrence Mateo when he suddenly felt pain in the back. He checked himself and found out he got hit.
Mateo took Develos to a hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle hit an 18-year-old lad on Saturday evening in Barangay Anhawon, Panay town.
Adrian Anoche was a resident of Barangay Bahit, Panay, Capiz. He was declared “dead on arrival” at Health Centrum Hospital at around 11:15 p.m.
Anoche got hit by a Suzuki multicab pick-up driven by Arnel Buencuchillo, 29, of Barangay Bato, Panay town.
Also over the weekend, a rider died. His motorcycle overshot a barrier in Sitio Paglaum, Barangay Gibato, Dumarao Capiz.
Diodindo Dumaan, 21, of Barangay Agbatuan, Dumarao was bound for Iloilo. He was brought to the Dao District Hospital but was declared “dead on arrival”.
Moreover, due to alleged jealousy, a 31-year old male stabbed his 19-year live-in partner using a flamingo knife in Barangay Tanque, Roxas City.
The incident transpired past 10 p.m. on Saturday.
The unnamed victim was taken to the RMPH while the suspect was detained at the Roxas City Police Station.
The duo argued during a drinking binge, police said./PN
