BACOLOD CITY – Due to their alleged participation in illegal cockfighting activity held in Barangay Camba-og, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental at about 10:35 a.m. on Jan.10, three men were detained.
The local police were conducting an operation on all forms of illegal gambling activities in the area when they spotted the suspects participating and betting in illegal cockfighting.
Arrested were identified as Jomarie Mongcal, 52; Ludivico Guro, 52; and Jolly Candido, 58; all residents of the locality.
As evidence of their participation in the illegal activity, the authorities confiscated two fighting cocks, a gaff, and the bet money of P1,800.
Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449 are being prepared to file against the suspects, who were detained in the custodial facility of the town’s police station./PN
