BACOLOD City – Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is again hitting provincial government employees, according to Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.
Among the affected employees were those from the Provincial Budget Office and the Provincial Planning and Development Office, he said yesterday.
A number of medical workers from capitol-run hospitals were falling ill after getting exposed to patients visiting the hospitals seeking treatment for other ailments, revealed Diaz.
Those patients would later test positive for COVID-19, he said.
It’s possible that many patients may be asymptomatic, especially as the Omicron-variant of COVID-19 only lasts a minimum of two days with flu-like symptoms, according to Diaz.
In response to the growing number of healthcare workers getting sick, Diaz said, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson ordered the release of antigen test kits from the Provincial Health Office to detect positive cases./PN
