ILOILO City – Violators of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban in Region 6 ballooned to 20.
From Jan. 9 whens the gun ban commended up to Jan. 18, Negros Occidental recorded the highest number of arrests – eight persons.
Other areas with arrested violators were the following:
* Aklan, Iloilo province and Bacolod City – three each
* Antique, Guimaras, and Iloilo City – one each
The most recent person arrested was 63-year-old Rodrigo Policarpio of Barangay Talibong, Zarraga, Iloilo.
He was caught at around 11:30 p.m. at a checkpoint. He yielded a knife which was also covered by the ban.
The suspect was detained at the Zarraga police.
Only the province of Capiz and Roxas City remain gun ban violator-free.
