SAN JOSE, Antique – In just 18 days starting January 1 – 18, 2022, the town of San Jose, Antique listed a total of 297 positive cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Out of 297 cases, 292 individuals are still active and the other five are already recovered.
Here are the breakdown per barangay that are positive in San Jose: Atabay (45), Barangay 1 (15), Barangay 2 (four), Barangay 3 (23), Barangay 4 (26), Barangay 5 (seven), Barangay 8 (16), Badiang (18), Bariri (one), Bugarot (two), Can-tub (two), Funda-Dalipe (40), Igbonglo (four), Madrangca (nine), Magcalon (five), Malaiba (six), Maybato North (14), Maybato South (five), Mojon (three), Pantao (two), San Angel (18), San Fernando (eight), San Pedro (18), and Supa (four).
According to the listed data of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose out of 28 barangays, only two barangay do not have positive cases of COVID-19. These barangays are Barangay 7 and Barangay Durog.
To stop the spread of COVID-19 cases, Mayor Elmer Untaran implemented a granular lockdown to that barangay with four or more cases.
This granular lockdown was listed in Untaran January 10 Executive Order No. 007 or An Order Imposing Measures to Curb the Imminent Increase of COVID-19 Cases in San Jose de Buenavista.
“Based on the recommendation of the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force of the Municipality of San Jose de Buenavista, with the imminent increase of COVID-19 cases, there is a need to impose measures and granular lockdown in Barangays where there are four or more positive cases,” stated on EO No. 007.
Granular lockdowns for Barangays where there are four or more positive COVID-19 cases shall have a duration of fourteen days, or until a longer period is required.
Untaran also reminds the public to observe safety response measures in all settings, at all times in the municipality.
* The general public is highly advised to limit mobility for non-essential transactions.
* Senior citizens who are 65-years-old and above (even if vaccinated), and children below 12-years-old, are advised to stay home, except during medical emergencies, when availing of urgent legal aid, accessing necessities, or when going home and traveling to/from work. Those with immunodeficiency, comorbidities, or other health risks and pregnant women are also urged to remain in their residences at all times, except when indispensable under circumstances of obtaining essential goods and services or for work purposes.
* Minimum standard protocols shall be intensified in the municipality like hand washing. The physical or social distancing of at least three feet or one meter and wearing of face mask./PN
