Parks, Nagoya upset Alvark in Japan B.League

MANILA – Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Nagoya Diamond Dolphins earned their biggest win of the 2021-22 B.League season by stunning Alvark Tokyo, 86-80, on Wednesday night at the Arena Tachikawa Tachihi.

The former TNT Tropang Giga guard tallied 10 points, on four-of-eight field goal shooting, to go with four rebounds, an assist and a steal as Nagoya improved to 21-9 win-loss slate.

The Diamond Dolphins’ triumph also put an end to the 10-game winning run of Alvark as they saw their win-loss slate dropped to 21-8, third place in the East District standings.

The Diamond Dolphins were comfortably ahead at 59-42 midway in the fourth quarter, but Alvark Tokyo countered with a huge rampage to trim the deficit to 76-81 with over two minutes left.

Takumi Saito, however, put an end to Alvark Tokyo’s uprising as he unloaded a booming three-pointer with 41.3 seconds left to put the Diamond Dolphins ahead, 84-76.

Saito paced the Diamond Dolphins with 20 points, six assists, and three boards, Shane Whittington added 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Coty Clarke finished with 12 points, four boards, and four assists for Diamond Dolphins.

Jordan Taylor paced Alvark Tokyo with 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Sebas Saiz contributed a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds in the defeat.

Meanwhile, Filipino import Kobe Paras has finally broken his scoring slump but his squad Albirex Niigata BB still suffered its 26th consecutive defeat after losing to Hokkaido Levanga, 107-85.

The former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroon bounced back from his two previous scoreless game to drop 16 markers, with 10 coming in the fourth period, for Niigata.

With the defeat, the Albirex Niigata BB dropped to a 2-27 win-loss slate, while Levanga improved to 12-17 in the standings./PN
