MANILA – Mylene Paat and Nakhon Ratchasima QminC saw their winning run snapped after a 25-19, 25-18, 25-23 defeat to Khonkaen Star in the 2021-2022 Volleyball Thailand League over the weekend at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers hitter spearheaded the offense for Nakhon Ratchasima with 13 points but this was not enough to lift her team. They dropped to 4-4 win-loss record.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat was not yet available for Nakhon Ratchasima in the match and will make her debut with the Thai team on Sunday morning against 3BB Nakornnont.
This is Nakhon Ratchasima’s second defeat to Khonkaen Star this season, falling in four sets last Dec. 23, 26-24, 21-25, 21-25, 20-25, in a match where Paat scored 27 markers.
Pattiya Juangian spearheaded Khonkaen with 17 points, built on 15 attacks and two service aces. Kanchana Sisaikaeo backstopped Paat with 10 points for Nakhon Ratchasima.
Over at Japan, Bryan Bagunas and the Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler and Marck Espejo and the FC Tokyo suffered separate defeats on Sunday at the 2021-2022 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s volleyball tournament.
Bagunas and the Weisse Adler failed to score a repeat over Nagoya Wolfdogs as the suffer a 25-20, 25-18, 25-20 straight set manhandling at the Cycle Shop Kodama Osu Arena.
The former National University Bulldogs star was the lone Weisse Adler in double figures with 13 points, on 12 attacks and a block. His team dropped to 5-17 win-loss slate.
Espejo, meanwhile, struggled in his return from shoulder injury as FC Tokyo suffered a 25-22, 25-10, 26-24 straight-set loss at the hands of JTEKT over at the Kariya City Gymnasium.
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles mainstay ended up with just eight markers, including seven attacks, as FC Tokyo slipped to 6-16 win-loss slate./PN
