TEXAS – Golden State Warriors kept its winning run going via a 124-120 escape from the San Antonio Spurs in the 2021-2022 NBA Season on Tuesday night (Wednesday in the Philippines) at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
Jordan Poole spearheaded the offense with 31 points, six rebounds and five assists. Damion Lee chipped in 21 markers as the Warriors recorded its seventh straight win for 39-13 win-loss slate.
Rookies Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga chipped in 20 and 19 points, respectively, while Kevon Looney had double-double 12 points and 12 rebounds for Golden State.
The Warriors were shorthanded with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins rested and Draymond Green, Otto Porter Jr., James Wiseman and Nemanja Bjelica out with injuries.
The Warriors saw themselves down 107-91 early in the fourth quarter but outside hits by Chris Chiozza and inside conversions by Kuminga cut the deficit to 102-110.
Seven straight points by Kuminga followed by a triple by Lee and another inside shot from Kuminga allowed the Warriors to tie the score at 114-all. A triple by Lee gave Golden State a 117-114 lead.
Back-to-back hits by Dejounte Murray gave the Spurs the advantage at 120-119 but a triple by Poole followed by two free throws by Lee gave the Warriors the upperhand for good.
Murray finished the match with 27 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, while Keldon Johnson added 21 markers as the Spurs slumped to 19-33 win-loss slate.
Meanwhile, Phoenix Suns tightened its hold of the top spot in the Western Conference at 41-9 following a 121-111 victory over the slumping Brooklyn Nets (29-21).
Devin Booker top-scored for the Suns with 35 points, Miles Bridges added season-high 27 markers, while Chris Paul had double-double 20 points and 14 assists.
