CAPIZ — Governor Esteban Evan Contreras wants an investigation on the alleged presence of a new double-your-money investment scheme operated by certain groups here.
The governor particularly requested the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Capiz Dir. Manuel Fayre Jr. and Capiz Provincial Police Office (CPPO) provincial director Police Col. Winston M. De Belen to conduct a more in-depth investigation.
According to Contreras, he is even linked to the operation of illegal activities.
He warned that there is also a risk that many residents will be victimized yet again by putting their hard-earned money in great danger.
The governor said it must be investigated who is/are operating the said investment scheme and the legality of their operation.
He also wants the cessation of the illegal activities as soon as possible and the arrest of persons involved and or the filing of appropriate cases in court if warranted.
“Capiz is already being known as a scam capital of the country and our aim here is to not let these activities go on and the persons involved enjoy the fruits of the labor of our hapless constituents who often fall victim because of the lure of easy money,” Contreras lamented./PN
