ILOILO City – Three hundred seventy-five individuals with warrants of arrest were taken into police custody from Jan. 1 to 31, data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed.
Of these arrests, 70 were classified as most wanted persons (MWP). The police called the rest (305) as “other wanted persons” (OWP).
“I urge my men to work harder to arrest fugitives. Kasi malapit na campaign period. Dapat ang mga wanted ma-arrest natin at baka gagamitin silang goon,” said Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, Western Visayas police director.
From the 70 arrested MWPs, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) had the most number of arrests at 29, followed by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) with 16.
Here’s the arrest figures of the other police offices:
* Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) – 13;
* Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) – six
* Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) – four
* Antique Police Provincial Office (AntPPO) – one
* Criminal Investigation and Detection Group- Regional Field Unit 6 – one
Meanwhile, the 305 OWPs were from the NOCPPO (142), IPPO (55), BCPO (41), CPPO (16), Aklan PPO (14); ICPO (11), AntPPO (seven), Guimaras PPO (five) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Regional Field Unit 6 (14).
“Congratulations! Ipagpatuloy lang natin ang pag-monitor at paghuli ng mga indibidwal na may mga warrants of arrest para hindi na sila makagawa ng karagdagang krimen at kaguluhan sa kanilang lugar at magiging tahimik na rin ang kanilang lokalidad,” said Dongbo.
He added: “Palakasin pa ninyo ang inyong relasyon sa mga tao sa mga barangays, lalung-lalo na sa ating mga barangay officials, force multipliers at advocacy support groups dahil sila ang ating katulong sa pagmo-monitor at mapanatili ang kapayapaan at kaayusan sa kanilang kumunidad.”
“Sa ating mga Unit Commanders at trackers teams, ipagpatuloy po natin ang pagbilang ng iba pang natitirang may pananagutan sa batas,” said Dongbo./PN
