ILOILO – Of the 1,118 deaths here due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of Jan. 30, 1,049 or 93.83 percent were individuals not vaccinated against the viral illness. Not even a first dose, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

Meanwhile, 69 deaths or 6.17 percent were vaccinated (either fully or just a dose), said Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares- Quiñon, head of the PHO.

The age group with the most deaths were the senior citizens (60 years old and older). Here’s the breakdown:

Of the 1,118 deaths, 615 had comorbidities.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.

Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell.

Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment, according to the World Health Organization.

Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness.
