ILOILO – The Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) provincial supervisor here, Atty. Elizabeth Doronila, died on Sunday night, Feb. 6. She was 62.

Doronila expired at a private hospital due to multiple organ failure, according to Atty. Wilfred Jay Balisado, Comelec regional director.

He described Doronila as hardworking and dedicated, and her death was a big loss to the Comelec.

“It’s really a sad day for all of us while we are preparing for the elections. May she rest in peace,” said Balisado.

In January, Doronila was temporarily reassigned to the Comelec regional office as part of the reshuffling of election officers in line with the upcoming May 2022 elections.

But she had been in and out of the hospital since last month, according to Balisado.

“We hope we can still work kahit wala na si Ma’am Beth,” said Balisado.
