SAN REMIGIO, Antique – Governor Rhodora Cadiao and San Remigio Mayor, Mar Mission Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed evacuation center at Barangay San Rafael last February 3, 2022.
The project reached P33,002,865.48 allotted budget from the provincial and municipal government of Antique to build this evacuation center.
According to barangay captain Felix B. Gordo, this project is a big help to their barangay in preparation for natural disasters and calamities like floods and typhoons.
“Bahol gid ang bulig ka amo nga proyekto bukot lang sa andang Brgy. kundi pati sa bilog nga kabarangayan sa San Remigio,” Gordon said.
Cadio said that the provincial government allotted funds to build the biggest evacuation center in Remigio as the commitment that all barangay should have evacuation centers.
“This is our commitment, that all barangays should have an evacuation center or at least a roof over their plaza. Congratulations San Rafael sa inyo nga evacuation center. This will be the center of our seminars and meetings and sports here in San Remigio” said Cadiao
She further exclaimed, “Makita naton ang benepisyo when all of us unite. Maga rako, bukot lang ang isda sa aton baybayon, kundi pati ang mga proyekto sa kada barangay sa Antique and in the near future we will indeed be the Rising Star of Western Visayas.”
According to DPWH representative, Engineer Piñero, the Evacuation Center can accommodate modular tents that can fit up to one hundred ten (110) families in the event of an emergency. (with a report from Province of Antique)/PN
