YES, TODAY is that designated day in the calendar for husbands and wives, lovers and other strangers. Today is the annual phenomena called Valentine’s Day. It is the day when anyone in a relationship, preferably carnal and intimate, must give the significant someone roses, chocolates, a valentine’s card and go out on a date, usually dinner in some swanky hotel or restaurant.
But we’re not talking about it, maybe some other time. What we are going to talk about is that other phenomena that happens every six years — the presidential elections in the Philippines.
After all the melodrama, bad acting and tantrums; the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec)1st Division dismissed the consolidated disqualification petitions against Bongbong Marcos due to lack of merit.
Feb. 8 was officially the start of the campaign period. All the presidential wannabes kicked off with their proclamation rallies and based on these, Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte are the clear winners as President and Vice President. If you’re still in denial and can’t accept that, just console yourself with your pink profile and pink rose on social media.
Just by looking at the presidential survey results latest and previous, even if Isko Moreno, Manny Pacquiao, Leni Robredo and Ping Lacson all combine their numbers Bongbong Marcos will still win with a huge lead double their numbers combined.
Meanwhile, the latest slur and derogatory suggestions of the “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” now dyed pink on the fast food, convenient store, grocery and gas station workers demeaning them just because the shirt Bongbong Marcos wore on a TV interview happens to resemble their uniform shows their character or lack of it, and how evil these pretentious social climbers are. The irony is that it backfired on their faces.
Anyway it’s just a TV interview, not a requirement to run for President. The only qualifications needed to be a candidate for President in the Philippines are: 40 years old, natural born citizen and able to read and write, not perfect attendance in TV interviews. Refusing or choosing which interview to attend is the other side of “freedom of the press”. Certainly Bongbong Marcos has the right to attend or choose which media interview he wants. After all, he is the leading candidate and they need his presence more than he needs to be in their TV programs.
The usual suspects have been shouting since Day 1 “magnanakaw”. We all know that they’re alluding to Bongbong Marcos. So what exactly did he steal? Can you show tangible proof that he stole anything? If you’re referring to his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos, again what exactly did he steal? Is there any Supreme Court decision as such?
Incidentally, the father of your “idol” Ninoy Aquino was convicted by the courts for treason; so that makes his son a traitor and Noynoy Aquino the grandson a traitor. And Leni Robredo’s father was appointed Judge by former President Marcos because he was a Marcos loyalist, so that makes Leni Robredo the daughter of a Marcos loyalist.

Democracy is the rule of the majority while freedom of speech is the right to express your opinion without fear of censorship, suppression and retaliation. Unfortunately for the “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” now dyed pink, democracy and freedom of speech means not saying anything against Leni Robredo.
Take note folks, our allegiance is to the Philippine flag and not to a yellow ribbon, pink ribbon or pink rose.
She shamelessly uses the color pink that is the universally recognized color for breast cancer awareness for her political ambitions without permission. She took the rose, the symbol of the PDSP or Partido Demokratiko Sosyalista ng Pilipinas since 1973, for her presidential ambitions but that’s alright since two nuns held some sort of blanket over her head. I suppose that makes her some kind of saint.

The only justification for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to intervene and investigate a sovereign country for alleged crimes against humanity is if that country’s government has collapsed and its judicial system is no longer functioning.
In the case of the Philippines, it is no longer a member so the ICC has no jurisdiction over it and its government is fully functioning, particularly the justice department. So any presidential wannabe saying that he/she will allow the ICC to investigate is ignorant of international law and is just doing so to be cute to the so-called wokes and is inflicted with a severe case of colonial mentality. What is worse is that they want to be president yet cannot even protect the country’s sovereignty.
Speaking of colonial mentality, some words from the Harvard Crimson Ops- Eds Editor Eleanor V. Wikstrom:
“Skin whitening creams, shame over accented speech, self-denigration of ethnic characteristics. Taken together, these elements are the basis of colonial mentality, a well-documented phenomenon of internalized racism in the Filipino-American community that is considered a direct consequence of centuries-long colonial rule.” brotherlouie16@gmail.com)/PN
