MANILA – Ilonggo guard Ralph Bajon is hoping to land a spot in the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals’ 15-man roster ahead of the NCAA men’s basketball season, which is targeted to open on March 26.
According to the Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo native, he is extra motivated in their bubble training. He hopes to finally get his NCAA career started.
“I waited for this for two years so I am extra motivated when I was included in EAC Generals’ bubble training. I am doubling my effort to be able to adjust to their system,” Bajon told Panay News on Wednesday.
“I am thankful to the EAC for this opportunity and if given a chance to the 15-man lineup, I promise to give my best and help the school win as many games as possible in NCAA,” he added.
Bajon is a former standout of the Barotac Nuevo National Comprehensive High School before he transferred to Sta. Clarita International School Primes under Rodel Camacho.
Bajon was part of the Western Visayas secondary boys basketball team that finished runner up in the 2017 Palarong Pambansa boys basketball in San Jose, Antique.
Bajon was also part of the Western Visayas team that competed in the NBTC National Finals at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, where Generals head coach Oliver Bunyi saw him first.
“I saw the way he played sa NBTC national finals sa Manila and I saw his potential doon pa lang. He then attended our tryout in Iloilo City, doon na namin na-seal ‘yung commitment niya,” Bunyi said.
“We are glad that he is here with EAC now but he is still adjusting to our system. He is also a little out of shape but I can see naman that he is giving his best to keep in step with his teammates,” he added.
If ever he makes it to the final 15, Bajon will join the growing list of Ilonggos who were able to play in NCAA such as Antonio Jose Caram, John Paul Calvo, Juan Paolo Taha, Jaypee Belencion, Mac Abolucion, Andrei Pantin, Raffy Ynion, and Eduard Dixon./PN
