ILOILO – The vaccination of children here between five to 11 years old against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been temporarily halted.
The 20,000 doses of reformulated Pfizer vaccine sent by the Department of Health (DOH) to the province have all been used up, explained Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares Quiñon, Provincial Health Office (PHO) chief.
This week, DOH would be sending more, according to Quiñon, but she had no idea how many doses.
These would be administered as second dose to kids already eligible for the next round of their vaccination, she added.
“Children excited to avail themselves of their first dose may have to wait awhile,” said Quiñon.
The PHO rolled out its pediatric vaccination for five- to 11-year-old kids on Feb. 14. Its target are 267,470 kids; so far, 20,114 (eight percent) got their first dose.
