ILOILO City – The whole Western Visayas has been reclassified as a “minimal risk” area for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The March 8 data released by Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 showed the region with 1.00 percent average daily attack rate (ADAR) and -68 percent two-week growth rate – indications of being low-risk for virus transmission.
Data also showed that the region’s healthcare utilization rate is a low 29.22 percent wherein of the 1,056 COVID isolation / ward beds and 179 mechanical ventilator for COVID, 639 COVID beds and 14 mechanical ventilators are occupied, respectively.
Large areas of the region have beensplaced under Alert Level 2.
Guimaras, Iloilo and Iloilo City are classified as low risk while Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Negros Occidental and Bacolod City are on minimal risk.
On the other hand, there are 3,320 remaining active cases of COVID-19 in the region out of the 182,262 total confirmed cases.
Iloilo province has the highest remaining active cases with 1,690 followed by Negros Occidental with 526; Iloilo City with 385; Capiz 208; Antique 201; Bacolod 146; Aklan 122;l and Guimaras 42.
