KALIBO, Aklan – The province of Aklan remains a minimal coronavirus risk province – meaning the number of cases and hospital care utilization are low.

Aklan reported an average daily attack rate per 100,000 individuals in recent weeks of February 16 to March 1 of 0.48 percent. The growth on cases also recorded minus 72 percent from 145 cases on February 2 to 15 to 41 cases on February 16 to March 1.

The health care utilization rate is also at 5.44 percent, which is considered as low risk, the Department of Health Center for Health Development said.

Only eight patients are admitted to hospitals for Covid related symptoms.

Aklan has the lowest case fatality rate of 1.60 percent among the provinces and highly urbanized cities in Western Visayas.

Around 74.95 percent of the population of some 339,000 has now received two doses, while 48,040 people or 9.75 percent had their booster shots.

At least 396,723 or 80.5 percent of the eligible population already had the first dose.  

The number of confirmed cases in Aklan rose to 15,176 since the pandemic began, with 2,005 infections from January 1 to March 5, data showed from the Provincial Health Office-Aklan.

Four deaths, aged between 41 and 74 years old, were recorded last week in the towns of Madalag,

Ibajay, Altavas and Batan.

Lezo, Balete, Madalag and Libacao have no single case of Covid-19 as of March 5./PN
