Roxas City resident yields P4-M of ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – A drug suspect with P4-million worth of suspected shabu was arrested on March 15 by the combined forces of the Roxas City police and Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) in Barangay 11, Roxas City.

The 58-year-old Aureo Amane of the said barangay now faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

His arrest was effected at around 6:40 p.m. right after an undercover police officer bought from Amane suspected shabu for P100,000.

“We transacted to buy P100,000 worth of shabu. He later he told us there was more stuff in his car. Gin grab namon ang opportunity nga makuha ang droga,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, RDEU chief.

The police recovered a total of 600 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P4 million.

This was not the first time Amane was caught. In 2017 he was arrested also for illegal drugs but the complaint against him was dismissed, said Darroca.

“He got his items from Manila,” added Darroca.

So far, this is the biggest drug confiscation this month in Panay Island.

According to Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, regional police director, tips from the community and the hard work of policemen made possible Amane’s arrest.

“We are happy that na-gain na natin ang trust ng mga tao. We are hoping that people would continue to help us,” Dongbo said./PN
