KALIBO, Aklan – At least eight public elementary and high schools had started limited face-to-face (F2F) classes in the province of Aklan as of March 18, 2022.

In the coming weeks, more schools in Aklan would be allowed to conduct limited F2F classes after the province shifted to Alert Level 1, the lowest Covid alert level.

Aklan Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Miguel Mac Aposin said Dapdap Elementary School (Tangalan), Laserna Integrated School (Nabas), Naba-oy Elementary School (Malay), Banga Elementary School, Malinao School for Philippine Craftsmen, Nabas Elementary School, Buruanga Elementary School, and Maloco National High School (Ibajay) are currently holding limited F2F classes.

More schools are continuing their preparations after they complied with School Safety Assessment Tools for the progressive expansion phase of in-person classes. A regional composite team will validate their compliance with recommended schools for the progressive expansion

Aposin said the implementation of the face-to-face learning modality in pilot and expanded F2F schools in Nabas, Malay, Tangalan, Banga, Malinao, Ibajay, and Buruanga was generally smooth with the support of the Department of Health, teachers, parents, and community leaders of the local government units.

All private and public schools have to conduct self-assessment in preparation for the expansion phase and onward transitioning to new normal of face-to-face to determine the level of readiness in the time of Covid-19 pandemic.

Parents’ consent should be secured first before the schools are allowed to accept learners for the face-to-face classes.

Teachers in expanded F2F classes should be fully vaccinated. The school health and safety protocols are also implemented to protect the learners and teaching personnel from the coronavirus./PN
