DBM allots P150M for rehab of 3 major Bacolod markets

BACOLOD City – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) allotted P150 million for the rehabilitation of three public markets here – Burgos, Central and Libertad.

According to Mayor Evelio Leonardia, P50 million was for each market.

Over the weekend, he checked the Burgos Public Market.

“I requested the DBM for assistance in 2020 yet,” the mayor said.

This is by far the biggest single Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) the city ever received, according to Leonardia.

The rehabilitation, which commenced last month, includes scaffolding, replacing wood with steel for the markets’ roofing and trusses and framing.

Vendors affected by the ongoing construction were given temporary locations at the side of the market to sell their goods to prevent losses./PN
