BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) will begin regular Joint Security Control Center (JSCC) meetings as part of ongoing preparations for the May 9, 2022 national and local elections.

Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, spokesperson of the NOCPPO, said the JSCC is composed of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as the main body, the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Donasco said they recently held a coordinating conference attended by Comelec-Negros Occidental Elections Supervisor Atty. Robert Salazar, and representatives from the Philippine Army and the Department of Education.

She also revealed that representatives from local power cooperatives and internet service providers were also invited to the meeting so as to present their plans to ensure that both power and internet connectivity will not be hampered during the elections.

At present, election hotspot areas in Negros Occidental remain at 18, although Donasco gave assurances to the Negrenses that the police will work hard to prevent any incidents in the said hotspot areas./PN
