ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry P. Treñas agrees with the proposal to set an expiration date on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination cards.
It will make everyone aware of their vaccination status and encourage them to get booster shots, he explained.
“Together with (the Department of Public Works and Highways), kinanglan kampanyahan ta gid ang booster. Ako ya sugot ako nga i-require na ang booster kag butangan expiration,” he added.
The city mayor acknowledged that the city’s booster vaccination rate is low.
National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) chairperson and Health undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje earlier said in a Teleradyo interview that putting an expiration date on vaccine cards is a good strategy to encourage Filipinos to get booster shots.
The city mayor is also in favor of a second booster now being considered by the DOH for the immune-compromised and senior citizens.
“Ang efficacy sang vaccine gapanaog. May be after three months dapat may second booster,” said Treñas./PN
